Are my ears bleeding?

Holy smokes can this boy shreik. He showed his talents off last night trying to go to sleep. 1.5 hours of trying. He would trick us with thise closed eyes and droopy mouth and then BAM screaming like no other. We are working on a schedule to nap more in the day so we aren't so over tired. Today he has had about 2.5 so far and some good play times. So keep thinking happy thoughts!

  1. Tell me/us about his sleep routine. Does he enjoy a tub? Do you still swaddle him or does he hate it? How about white noise - that saved OUR ASSES with Amelia - I got one when my cousin mentioned it was the only thing that helped with her LO and it WORKED!!! Just this past week did we finally start weaning her off her dependencie on ocean sounds for bed!!!

Does he nurse and fall asleep... then wake up when you try to transition him? Does he sleep better if you sleep WITH him? (I did that a lot - with both girls actually - I was dead set against it but it helped so much...)

    Do you have gripe water?????

  2. Well to note, the nighttime routine is great and he does really well at night. He goes to bed around 7:30-8 by nursing if it is time or just some jiggling/walking for a few minutes to get drowsy. I swaddle him and put him down partially awake and he grunts and farts for 10 minutes or so and is out until the next feeding time (3-4 hours). The bath thing isn't his favorite. His stump didn't fall off for so long so we didn't even get to start until over a month. He has a white noise machine in his room and that helps block us out. The problem is the naps. So I even tried to mimic this same thing during the day and it has worked once. It is like I am missing that drowsy window. O well I will keep trying. He will nap while on us. But it isn't helpful when it is just me at home and need to I dunno...eat or pee.

We have some gripe water but we haven't tried yet. Was going to wait until to talk to the pedi on friday.

  3. Amelia's naps have gotten significantly better since starting at BH. I think they just get trained or assimilated into the room routine - and sleep is one of the expectations - so they just somehow do it. Now her naps are not long - we're lucky to see 30-45 minutes twice a day - but hey - it's a start. Sometimes she'll do monster big ones and those are great - but few and far between.

Do you get in the tub with him?? That might help him "warm up" to the whole water thing. Yeah - sometimes they poop on you... :) you can stick a speedo swimmie on him if that's overly concerning. :)

See what your ped. says about gripe. It was a food group for all three of ours. Now - we import ours - there are differences in what is available here in the USA vs Canada/other commonwealth nations. (Damn FDA has to have their hands in everything...)
