Nursery...step 1

Well I figured I would vocalize my plans for the nursery here. So far we have painted walls, crib bedding and a crib. Voila! My "theme" is numbers and letters and the colors are blue and brown. I found the bedding made by Dwell Studio for Target on clearance for $27 and $7 for the crib skirt. Also to note, I ordered it the day we found out he was a boy and by that afternoon, it was out of stock. I think I got the last one! Anyway, I then did some searching around for design ideas and I found this awesome mural. I plan to mimic the idea with the bedding I have. I have 2 designers at work giving me pointers and others volunteering to help. This is hard work! I am also looking for a dresser and rocker. Furniture is freaking expensive. To note, we got the crib from Target. It was available in store so I could get it easily and take it back easily. It was rated as second pick on consumer reports and has a lot of reviews on various websites. People complained of the time it took to put together and that it was confusing....apparently they didn't go to engineering school. It took us about 30 minutes and we had no problems at all. Here are the shots of the nursery I have so far.

19 Weeks!

Not much going on. Just thought I would update with a picture and a blurb from thebump.com:

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

And finally....a belly pic:

My hall...the best consignment shop EVER

Once again, I start this post with I love where I work AND I love the people I work with. Being the youngin of the group, I am getting ALL kinds of hand me downs and deals. Almost all the girls I work with have had 1 or more boys, so I am reaping the benefits needless to say! Being the nerd that I am, I have started a little excel spreadsheet to track everything I have so far. So far I have accumulated a Medela breast pump, a travel hand breast pump, 3 baby Einstein videos, a bag of boy onesies, 3 outfits from Jen, and 2 pairs of maternity shorts all for free. NOW that isn't including everything I have bought for a steal on the bulletin board! I got a BOB stroller for $80(retail around $300), a baby sling for $10(retail $50), 3 pairs of maternity pants and a dress all for $20, and I am sure more to come. Anissa is looking into her bouncy seat, Joey and Joelle may sell us their Snap and Go stroller frame, and I still have many months to shop! I am pretty excited to be getting all this stuff....it is now overflowing my little baby box onto the floor of the new nursery!

My new bed mate...

Now with a bed full of boys :) and me...we have a new bed fellow...THE SNOOGLE! I got him as a surprise birthday gift from Debora...and man is he sexy...in a cuddling, turd shaped kinda way. I present, the Snoogle:
As you can see, it is a giant shaped body pillow to support your back(by putting something between your knees), you head, your belly once it is bigger and keeps you from rolling onto your back. Then you can turn over and wrap around it....also apparently you can use that side for breastfeeding as well. You can also fold it all kinds of ways to relieve others ailments(hemorrhoids, back problems, etc) . My only problem so far is that it takes up so much room under the covers, that I am fighting to hold onto the side of the sheets(which have always been a little short). O well...I figure I will be hot enough soon enough and won't want it :). Anyway, I had read about this pillow even before I was pregnant but I felt the price was more than I wanted to pay...but apparently Joelle came to the rescue! She and Joey recommended it as a gift :). Thanks Websters! Now if I can get it back from Kevin, maybe I can get a nap ;)

It's A Boy!

Had our 18 week ultrasound on Monday and we got an eyeful of baby boy parts! I was just as excited to see his little organs and fingers. The tech showed us the chambers of the heart, the kidneys, the spine, the fingers and toes. He was moving his mouth and waving all around. He measures about 7 oz and right on track. I got a ton of pictures and left with a big ole smile. Here are the other pics(not all are of his junk):
Little Mann

I immediately went to work and ordered the bedding I had been eyeing. It is on clearance at target.com and it was so cute but not overly baby looking. I will post the pattern once it is here. I am a little nervous because after I ordered, I looked again and it was then out of stock. Maybe I got the last one? I sure hope so. I also left work with a bag of onesies from Anissa and came to work today to more stuff from Jen :). Gotta love the boy mommies club!

Well next Monday is my monthly appointment...we shall see how much weight I have gained :)

Random Little Things

So I haven't kept up with listing EVERYTHING about pregnancy because I feel some of them are too trivial...so they all go in 1 post! Here are some happenings going on with me:

1. My nails grow incredibly fast.
2. Kegels make me feel weird and anxious...but apparently that means I am doing it right?
3. I LOVE my maternity pants. People are noticing my bump now and it is great :)
4. I have not broken down into crying spells like everyone says I will...still waiting...
5. I feel the baby moving about everyday now. Feels like gas and popcorn...kinda weird.
6. My boobs don't hurt anymore...they are just gigantic.
7. My feet are turning out...I am in the pre-waddle stage. This also makes my inner thighs hurt after running...so weird.

Well that was my quick update. Now I am off to have my lucky charms :)

A spoon full of sugar does what again?

I hope it gets rid of headaches. Man...I am getting them about every other day. They start right behind the eyes and usually only sleep can help. But of course when I feel crappy, I reach for comfort food....and the comfort food of this week has been Lucky Charms. Holy moly they are freakin sugar heaven.

However, these mild headaches are about all I have...so I can't really complain. I have officially started not liking to be on my stomach. At the gym this week, she had us on our tummies for all sorts of things and I just had to give up. Also being on my back for a good while isn't really comfortable anymore. It isn't the baby pushing down or anything, it just isn't doing it for me. This is kind of a relief. I have been worried since it was seeming like that was the only way I could get back to sleep. I knew I was going to have to give it up in a few weeks so it is nice nature is helping me out :).

On another front, I am starting to look at baby gear. Just the big stuff for now. It is kinda fun doing all my internet research. I think I have my crib narrowed down and possibly the dresser/changing table(although this was depends more on the crib than safety regulations). The lovely Websters let me check out consumer reports online and I found that the crib I am eyeing is #2 in it's catgeory! Hooray! Along with the baby gear, I officially have 4 pairs of maternity pants now :). Sarah and I went shopping last weekend and got a pair of khakis from the Gap maternity and a pair of jeans from Old Navy. Then yesterday I met Jen out at Kohls with a big coupon and got a pair of capris. But the best news is when I went to drop off stuff at Goodwill, I thought I would take a shot and looked there. They had the EXACT pair I wanted at Old Navy but they didn't have my size...and these were $3.65!!!! I am so excited!

Well that is all the news for now. I am hoping to get the camera out to get a picture of my little bump. I keep meaning to and forget.
