All Clean

Well this past Saturday, I had my first shower in Granite Falls hosted by my mom's friends and my friend Michele. It was very nice, with good food and lots of presents! Deenie made a diaper cake with the softest diapers! :) I will let the pictures do the talkin:

To highlight some unique gifts, mom made a sweater and matching cap. It also came with a knitted bunny! Too cute. She also made him a nice blanket with fun colors (other than blue). I got 2 other knitted blankets, and a set of blankets and clothes with "Little Mann" embroidered on it. Thumper got lots of clothes and mommy got some moola to spend! Grandmama Debora got him a cute dino bank...and we no how I love dinos! Catherine mailed in some cute dino hooded towels and washclothes too!

Other observations of said baby shower:
1. You would think I am the antichrist for not telling people his name. I was just shocked at the distaste people had for the idea. Then people who would keep asking..and are convinced we have told people other than them. Whatever. Readers...We ain't tellin...deal wit it ;)
2. People don't understand that you can be pregnant and NOT constantly hungry.
3. Baby diapers are so much softer than I thought. Maybe I just haven't paid attention lately.
4. This was the first group of people to ask about my weight gain. Is that normal? I don't really care because I am pretty a open person..but it just seemed a little odd. O well. I think it may come from the culture clash of the generations where you were told not to gain weight to one that they tell you to gain.
5. This child will never need another bib. I knew there was a reason I didn't put them on the registry.

Well it was a fun time and I am so excited with all my new stuff to nest with!

Capturing the Baby Bump

Well on Sunday, we went and had a maternity photo shoot. It is all the rage! Anyway, I have been looking into them since the beginning and finally decided to have a fellow coworker of Kevin's do them. He does some portraits on the side for family and friends and was willing to take on my task list :). I didn't want the usual artistic mellow looking pictures...I wanted more personality...and less nudity! So here are a few proofs from the shoot. It was super fun and we are very happy with the results:

Dear Thumper: Week 32

Dear Thumper,

Wow little mann, we are moving along. I am starting to worry a little because of all these babies coming early! You stay in there...or you will be grounded. Mommy and daddy want to see you really bad but you have more growing to do. You are getting closer to having a name but you will know when you get here :). we even resorted looking up your name in the urban dictionary today and you sounds pretty awesome ;).

You seem to be slowing down on kicking but you seem to like stretching out. I am getting stretched in 2 directions at once. I don't mind. I am not uncomfortable...no matter how many strangers assume so. I don't have bad heartburn, my back doesn't hurt and my ankles aren't too big yet. We played tag this week where I would poke you and you would poke back. It was fun :).

Well we have our first shower tomorrow in mommy's home town. Hopefully we can get some good eats!

Love,
Mommy

Dear Thumper: Week 31

Dear Thumper,

No more excuses...Mommy just can't come up with something for each week. I wish I could come up with something witty and fun each week...but alas...mommy is lame. Well you are really growing. Last week it seemed like I couldn't grow fast enough to keep you happy. I felt pretty squished for a few days but you seem to have more room now. Right this moment, you seem to be practicing your kung fu on my internal organs. So far they are intact but I don't underestimate you and your fists of fury.

Last week we also went to the pool for the first time and it was fun. You seemed to like it. I was doing some walking before class and you just were moving all around. I wonder what it feels like to double float? We then went floating this weekend in the river. I put you in the tube and floated ...until a mean ole jellyfish stung me in the leg! Just glad it wasn't my belly.

Well keep growing and we will go see the Dr. on Thursday. Maybe I can find out where you are again!

Love,
Mommy

Well now we have somewhere to leave the little bugger...

We got word on Friday that we will be accepted into the fall class at Bright Horizons across the street! Kevin and I have been getting a little worried because we keep hearing of people not getting in and being WAY back in the line. To recap for you non-sas people, the way daycare works here is that you can sign up for on-site care, bright horizons across the street, or both. The BH across the street is pretty much completely maintained by SAS. They pay for all the spots so we can get them all and I think they pay part of the facilities and such for the building...just not the staff. So as soon as you have a due date, you sign up for daycare. We signed up for both but due to all the preggo women, I got beat out for on-site. The formula for admittance is based on seniority and when the baby is due. What sucks though is that even if both parents work here, it doesn't factor in...you can take only 1 seniority. Poo. But whatever, we got in across the street and we are excited we don't have to worry with that anymore!

30 Weeks and Growing

Can I start complaining now?

I can officially have some complaints now about being pregnant. Nothing to whine about really...just I am finally a little uncomfortable sometimes. I have alleviated this a little in my own ways. So in no particular order:

1. There ain't no more room!: When sitting, my boobs hit my belly and there isn't much room to give there. Also little mann is head down(as of last week) and is kicking me in the boob most of the day. So last week...I gave up on under wire. Standing up, I feel fine but the minute I sit, it just wears on me. I got some nice nursing bras already from the maternity store that are just like more fitted sports bras with no wire. They are fabulous. Also with this, sitting with those bands on my jeans and shorts gets old. Especially after an 8 hour work day and a 2.5 hour car ride to the river. I have also decided to wear pants and shorts sparingly and instead rely on skirts and dresses. I found a nice lot of clothes on the bulletin board and got 3 new dresses!

2. Gigantic boobs - As mentioned above, I went to get more bras. I am now in a letter I didn't know existed in bra sizes. I also had to get the biggest bathing suit tops they sell at old navy. I officially a fat porn star.

3. Do you pop your collar? - Well I pop my collar BONE. When I am sleeping at night on my sides exclusively, I am wrapping the bottom arm under the pillow. This is great while sleeping but it throws my shoulder out of whack. So when I get up, I can pop my collar bones. It is disgusting but at least I don't hurt anymore after that.

4. Hungry + things on the floor = heartburn - Not I can't complain too much about this because people have it much worse but if I have an empty stomach, it seems, and I go to bend over to pick something up off the floor or something, I get a rush of heartburn. It goes right away after that but man does it catch me off guard sometimes.

5. My bladder: the punching bag - This past week I have had some nice punches to the bladder. It makes me cringe everytime. Nuff said

O well. These things are all very minor. I could be way worse. But I just wanted to keep track of the woes from time to time.
