You can't fight the Mann

So more and more, I am learning creepy things about genetics. Things you would SWEAR are learned traits...really aren't. We have had 2 examples of this so far.

1. Feet rubbing. Kevin, Ray, Jeff, Thurston....they all rub their feet when sitting around and going to bed. Guess who does it now? That's right. When he nurses, those little feet are just-a-going. O and when he is really sassy, he proceeds to kick me in the bicep. He seems to like to have something to push against.

2. The concentration face. A couple of weeks ago, we noticed he will stick his bottom lip out and tuck in the bottom one. Or tuck both in. He looks so hard in thought. Behold exhibit A:

Hooray Office!

Yeah so I know Kevin is reading this and just laughing. We have loved The Office since our honeymoon when we ran across it waiting for a play. The Jim and Pam romance is like the only on-screen romance I have ever gotten into. Kevin thinks it is hilarious. Anyway, a lot of people have said it has jumped the shark and I heard a lot of that talk after the Birth episode but I loved it. For obvious reasons, I could relate but more importantly, it wasn't the typical baby episode. I planned to write something about it but then I read a better entry about it on AlphaMom. So I recommend the read :)

Go Pam. I hope she pumps. That will be hilarious!

A new love...who knew!

So I recently embarked on the adventure to make Landon's food. We started him with jars and I quickly saw how much that was going to cost. I also wanted him to try things that don't come in jars. I started simple..thinking this would lose is momentum. I made peas first. I bought organic frozen peas at Trader Joes and the rest is history. I LOVE DOING THIS! It is so easy and cheap. And I feel all hippy and junk feeding him homemade. We still have some jars in the pantry for when we are running out the door at the last minute(since the homemade is usually frozen solid). So far I have made the following:

Peas
Applesauce
Green Beans
Pears
Mango
Carrots
Bananas
Butternut Squash
Sweet Potatoes

One con of this...Landon doesn't seem to like the homemade peas and green beans. But I did find this morning that he can take them mixed with pears. He LOVES sweet potatoes and squash.

Like I said, it is really easy. Put the pieces in my Pampered Chef rice cooker, add a little water and steam in the microwave for a few minutes (until tender). Then puree and put in the little freezer cubes. Done! Now another awesome outcome of this, we are actually getting use out of the Magic Bullet we bought a few years ago. It works PERFECT for this. Purees in seconds! Yesterday I also tried freezing in just ice cube trays with a lid(you can get at Bed Bath and Beyond). It was great. This morning I just popped them out into a freezer bag.

NOTE: Bananas and avocados don't have to be cooked. You can just mash them. But you can't freeze avocados. Also you can get cheap steamed sweet potatoes at SAS and make even quicker food!

Here are some good resources I have used:

Baby's First Ear Infection :(

Started being really fussy Friday afternoon and a restless sleep both nights. Went to the Dr. this morning and ear infection it is :(. Poor kiddo. But he is still playful most of the time and as long as he is upright. Thank goodness he can't sit up!

Happy 6 Months!

A few of our favorites.....

Cutest Family!

We recently had Landon’s fabulous 6 month photos and also had a family portrait done. Our photographer, Ken Bulmer, entered our family in the North America’s Cutest Family contest.

If you want, please vote for us as all the proceeds will go to the non-profit Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (http://nilmdts.org). Each vote costs $1. I found their spot on Today to be very informative (warning: you will probably cry).

Contest details can be found at http://www.sandypucmodels.com. To vote, follow the link to the Gallery from the Model Search web page.
Once in the voting gallery select Raleigh as the Tour City and then Mann in the Last Name field. You can also see all the other Raleigh entries in the gallery to see your placement in the voting.
